HEALTH
The staff of Health Services consists of two DOE certified registered nurses. One located at the Harvard Elementary School and the other at The Bromfield School.
Health Services Requirements
All students, as part of the condition of admission, are required to have on file a complete, up-to-date, medical history and physical exam form and proof of up-to-date immunizations (Polio, DPT, Td, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, HIB, and Lead test).
Physical exams are required by the state upon entrance, for sports, and in grades 4, 7 and 10.

Services Provided at School

First aid to the sick and injured, immunization surveillance and administration, blood pressure monitoring, flu vaccines, health education and illness prevention, nutritional, growth and development assessments, care and management for students with special health needs, counseling, administration of medication in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, section 54B, as well as routine screening procedures in accordance with the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are provided by health personal. The Dental Program is provided by Nashoba Associated Boards of Health with screening in grade K, cleaning and fluoride in grades 2 and 4 and dental education in grade 5.
Referrals
If Health Services is unable to provide the necessary care, referrals will be made to health providers within the community
Health Insurance
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has a comprehensive insurance program called MassHealth that has expanded its? eligibility guidelines, making more families and children eligible for the program. If you do not have health insurance and would like to know if you are eligible, you may contact the Health Services office or the Guidance office for a Benefit Request Form.
Immunizations
Polio 4 doses
Varicella 1 or 2 doses of varicella vaccine or a physician-certified reliable history of chickenpox disease.
Hepatitis B 2 or 3 doses. Serologic proof of immunity is acceptable.
Tetanus/Diphtheria a Td booster is required for entry to 7th grade, if it has been five years or more since the last dose.
MMR 1 dose of mumps and rubella, and 2 doses of measles.
HIB 4 dose
Children Must Remain Home if they have any of the following
A contagious illness such as chicken pox, flu, or strep; may return when doctor authorizes.
A fever of over 100; may return when 98.6 or doctor authorization.
Vomiting or diarrhea; may return 6-12 hours after last episode.
Red or pink eye, with drainage; may return when no drainage and/or on medication for 24hours.
Head lice or nits (eggs); may return when nits are removed.
If they do not have all the required immunizations or screenings for lead.
